What follows are notes from the committee meeting held Monday, June 21:
The group met at Nik Davis' house. In attendance were Rev. Roya, Lesley Hollister, Nicole Jacobson, Marilyn Floyd, Stephanie Downing and Nik Davis.
Rev. Roya recapped what the community needs to do to become a recognized entity with the United Centers for Spiritual Living. The paperwork and application fee are ready. Nik agreed to compile ZIP codes for Roya to submit with the application to receive mailing labels. With study group standing, we will not have non-profit status so donations will not be tax deductible. Non-certificated classes can be taught, and those who wish to take certificated classes can take them online and meet in groups for facilitated discussion.
We discussed that location is of utmost importance and that formal Sunday gatherings will be suspended until there is a location, with a goal of re-convening July 11 at a new location. We agreed to try to keep meetings on Sundays if possible, but we will be open to meeting at other times or on other days.
Lesley suggested some social gatherings in the meantime, until a location can be found. An e-mail to community members about all these changes was agreed to and will follow.
We agreed to set another organizational meeting for Tuesday, July 6, at Smoky Mtn Pizza at 6 pm on Park Center. The meeting will be open to the community. We will discuss our progress and get ready for a new location, hopefully starting July 11.
We brainstormed the following list of potential host sites; some ideas came from a website Nicole found. Nicole and Nik agreed to help Paula narrow the search. Nicole also agreed to put out an e-mail call for ideas/suggestions, including whether anyone has access to a clubhouse. Stephanie agreed to call Midge regarding the space she has available in the Orchard/Overland area. And Nik is willing to call Life's Doors, as is Roya, to see if they would allow us to return.

#1 Youth

My hope is that we can continue having a youth group of some kind, so any location that offers us the ability to have a separate youth class would be at the top of my list. Thanks!
